Did you get to pick which hero you wanted to introduce?
Yeah. Tim Kring was like, "You write and direct it dude. It is your world, you do what you want." That of course was appetizing as hell. Last week, I went in and pitched my story and every three minutes into my breakdown I was like, "Now mind you, you can say no at any time and put a nail in this because I realize it might not be your cup of tea," but they kind of went for it. It is very in keeping with what 'Heroes' is, but tonally it is different than what they normally do.

Are you putting in a cameo for yourself?
Oh, heavens no. Nobody wants to see me on 'Heroes.'

You could have some mystical mind-control power.
I've got nothing.

Some super directing ability?
Oh god, there's a bunch of people on the internet that would tell you that you are absolutely wrong about that.

What's next for you movie-wise?
Next up in January we start filming 'Zack and Miri Make a Porno' and then after that we're going into 'Red State.'

'Red State' is a horror flick, right?
That's the horror one. It is a little different. I've only made one kind of a movie, a comedy with more dramatic elements to them or sometimes just a flat-out comedic, but always in the arena of comedy. Most days, I don't feel like I'm a filmmaker. I just feel like I'm a guy who directs his own scripts. I felt like if we did a horror movie, which is outside my comfort zone, it would be a nice test to see if I could pull off a film that I am not known for making.

Is this a straight horror film, or 'Shaun of the Dead' type of horror?
Not 'Shaun of the Dead.' I'm sure there will be a little bit of humor in it, but it's not like a comedic horror film. I don't know how they are going to market it. The last thing you want to put on the poster is "from the director of 'Clerks.'"

Did your friend and sometimes star Ben Affleck ask you for any tips while he was filming his directing debut 'Gone Baby Gone'?
He didn't!

That's a little insulting.
Not really considering that the dude has worked with a wealth of directors, a lot of them way more talented than me. He had a lot of sources to go to. There was at one point in the midst of rehearsing he was just like, "I apologize for any time that I gave you a hard time as an actor. It is mind bending sometimes when actors want to do their own thing and not what you want them to do." I saw it. He did such a great job that you look at it and you are like, "F---!" I've done seven movies and this dude has done one and his first one is better than all mine combined.

You've also got a new book, 'My Boring Ass Life,' coming out in September, which is essentially your blog posts?
Basically. I've now kind of backed into two books. My first one, 'Silent Bob Speaks' was basically a compilation of all these articles I'd written. Now [this one] is basically everything that I did on the blog and a few pieces I saved for the book. There is a brand new intro and then there is the second part to Yippee-Kai-Yay, which is the 'Die-Hard' story and is a book exclusive.

Do you ever worry about sharing too much about yourself on the internet?
At this point I've been over-sharing for 13 years so I'm kind of just used to it. I do think someday people will be like, "We know absolutely everything there is to know about you dude. There is no mystery left. F--- off."
