12 Questions With: Julia Louis-Dreyfus1. How did the writer's strike affect 'The New Adventures of Old Christine'? We were in the middle of shooting episode 9 when the strike hit. We shut down on day 1 of the strike, so we have eight episodes completed.
12 Questions With: Julia Louis-Dreyfus2. What crazy things will Christine be up to this season? Well, she's even more frantic than ever, and she's going down a number of roads, including plastic surgery, and she's going to consider going to a drug dealer. You know, the life of a working, divorced mom, but more self-deprecating, more frantic, and more desperate behavior on her part.
12 Questions With: Julia Louis-Dreyfus3. Will there still be a Jason Alexander guest spot this season? As soon as the strike's over we're shooting an episode with Jason, which I'm looking forward to. It's kind of a love interest situation, but it begins when he's the reptile guy at a kids' birthday party.
12 Questions With: Julia Louis-Dreyfus4. You and Blair Underwood (Mr. Harris) have great chemistry. Was it planned that his character would be around this long? He's a hottie. It was meant to be ongoing, but it became even more ongoing because he's so marvelous. We were just so grateful to get him. He was the absolute first choice for the role, and we were over the moon when he agreed to do it.
12 Questions With: Julia Louis-Dreyfus5. You walked the picket line during the writer's strike. What was that like? We [picketed] a 'Desperate Housewives' location shoot. We started out with about 20 picketers, and it grew until we had, I would say, 150 people out there. We were preventing them from shooting; the writers were saying things like, "Marcia, don't Cross that picket line" and "We write the story-a for Eva Longoria."
12 Questions With: Julia Louis-Dreyfus6. Word is you had an Eva Longoria encounter. We're picketing for hours and all of a sudden, Eva Longoria comes out... she'd been shooting and so she's in hair and makeup and wardrobe, and she looks absolutely stunning. And all the cameras come out, and I'm in my yoga pants ... and my hair is just pulled back and frizzy, and I've got no makeup on, except maybe ChapStick. She starts [by saying that] she feels terrible about people being put out of work during the strike and she appreciates what the writers are striking for, and then she starts to cry ... everybody's heart [is] breaking. And she starts passing out pizza. For a moment, I was sort of the It Girl for the writers ... that changed the minute Eva walked out. [Laughs]
12 Questions With: Julia Louis-Dreyfus7. Okay, 'SNL' question: The skit you did with Gary Kroeger as Donny and Marie making out is one of my faves. What's your favorite memory of the show? Well, that was definitely one. But I think my favorite memory of 'SNL' is when I went back to host it. I was the first female cast member to ever come back and host, and I've done that twice now. It is at the top of the list of the most phenomenal experiences.
12 Questions With: Julia Louis-Dreyfus8. You reunited with the 'Seinfeld'cast for the DVD box set can you believe it's been almost 10 years since the series finale? It was like a college or a high school reunion. I sometimes have to pinch myself that it happened and that I was a part of it. It's lightning in a bottle, and it's a remarkable thing to have been a part of TV history.
12 Questions With: Julia Louis-Dreyfus9. When AOL TV spoke to you last year, you hadn't decided on a presidential candidate have you picked one yet? Well, I'm just crazy for Obama. I think he's what everybody needs. I am thrilled to be supporting him, and I have my fingers crossed for this primary coming up.
12 Questions With: Julia Louis-Dreyfus10. You just turned 47, right? Did you do anything special? Yes, on January 13. Um, it was very low key. I thought, as it was approaching: Oh, I should do something, I should do something, I should do something, and I never did anything. And that was fine.
12 Questions With: Julia Louis-Dreyfus11. How's life as a working mom? It's a constant juggling act. I'm just forward thinking all the time. It's like, what are my next three steps, and how can I organize to get them all accomplished?
12 Questions With: Julia Louis-Dreyfus12. Are you a big list maker? Yes. As I say that to you, I'm writing down an appointment for tomorrow. I would be dead without a list. The problem is, I have them all over the house. Really, a list locator is what I need. I need beepers on my lists.
