7 Questions With: Josh Radnor

March 13 -- It's not easy being the most sensitive guy on TV -- but if anyone's up for the job, it's Josh Radnor, star of 'How I Met Your Mother.' He dishes to AOL TV's Maggie Furlong about the possibility of an all-musical 'HIMYM' episode, his genius plan for mothers everywhere and, of course, the big news about upcoming guest star Britney Spears.

7 Questions With: Josh Radnor

1. Britney Spears is guest starring this season. Was that something you personally requested? What? What are you talking about? [Laughs] Yes, I said, "If there's one thing Ted needs, it's an encounter with Britney Spears." But of course she's not playing Britney Spears.

7 Questions With: Josh Radnor

OK, so what will Britney be doing? Remember when Ted got a lower back tattoo, compliments of Mandy Moore? [He] is going to a doctor and getting his lower back tattoo laser removaled -- is that a word? -- and Britney Spears plays Abby, the kind of hapless, adorable receptionist who gets a little crush on Ted. But it's not reciprocated [because] I'm in love with the doctor. She's going to be really funny in it.

2. It was also rumored that you'd be reuniting with an old Broadway co-star, Alicia Silverstone. Has that been postponed? We did 'The Graduate' together, and she's a good friend. She's actually not doing this episode -- that deal hadn't officially closed -- so I think they're going to try to get her a little bit later. I would love it. We've been trying to have lunch for a long time, so if we were working together, that would make it easier.

3. How does it feel being the most sensitive guy on TV? Thank you -- that's what every guy wants to hear. [Laughs] The whole series is really a gender reversal. Marshall and Ted are like these sensitive dudes who want to be in relationships, and Lily and Robin are like tough love. Robin shoots things and smokes cigars. And Barney is just kind of inter-planetary, doing his own thing. But I think they've injected some grey into the whole thing and [Ted] has certainly been on the town a little bit this year. Although there's a course correction coming up Marshall kind of calls Ted out, like, "Where's the Ted we know and love?"

4. Are you happy to be back at work? Yeah! I mean that first week back, everyone's kind of like, "Whoa, am I tired." You get into a groove with it, and on some level, it felt like we had never left, like, "Hey, how was your weekend?" You develop a great affection for people on the crew -- I know everyone says that, but we happen to have a fantastic crew -- so it was great to see all those people and know that they were back at work.

5. There's some doubt about whether the show will return for another season. Should people send something, like peanuts or lightbulbs? The show has to come back! Do you feel like if they canceled us, we'd have one of those massive outcries, the kind that the network gets scared and puts us back on? Everyone should send their mother in to CBS!

6. Do you think there's any chance for a full musical 'HIMYM' episode one day? You've got Robin Sparkles, your Broadway training and we know creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays have a penchant for making up funny songs. You know, that has been floated. Yeah, I would love an all-musical episode! This is totally apropos of nothing, but you should YouTube this video called Food Court Musical. It's this group called Improv Everywhere and they just do improvisation, and they literally have a musical in the middle of the food court. But I think that'd be great. We'll see ...

7. If they let you choose who would be the 'Mother,' and you could pick anyone I'd like you to be the mother, but in an all-musical finale.
