July 30 -- What's ahead for Jordana Spiro's sportswriting, poker-playing, best friend-smooching PJ on the second season of TBS' Chicago-set 'My Boys'? Well, more sportswriting, more poker playing and possibly more best friend smooching.

But Spiro tells AOL TV's Kimberly Potts that fans can also expect new love interests for PJ, upheaval for her 'burbs-banished bro Andy, great celeb guest stars and a few surprising twists for her loyal group of mostly male buddies.

I just watched the first three episodes of the new season, and the show gets even better this year. Congrats!
Thank you very much! Yeah, our writers ... they're just amazing. I think we, as a cast, were very lucky to have great chemistry right at the beginning. We just clicked. I think our friendships have only grown stronger. The writers know us now, so we've all just really had a nice chance to play around with these nine [new] episodes.

In the first episode of the new season we find out what happened with last season's cliffhanger with PJ and Brendan (Reid Scott), but, without spoiling that here, is it safe to assume their relationship will be a focus throughout the season?
Oh, yeah. It goes into the whole question of whether guys and girls can be platonic. I think they can be as long as that sexual chemistry isn't present, but if it is, I think that kind of relationship will always be a little bit confusing. As long as the show is on, my prediction is that the PJ/Brandon relationship will always be complicated.

To use a sportswriting cliché, PJ has a few curve balls thrown at her this season, both with her job and with a potential new boyfriend. Were you excited when you read the scripts?
Any time I read a script where PJ is thrown out of her element, I know it's going to be a fun week to shoot. Because she exudes so much confidence and anytime that confidence is shaken a little bit, it's a really fun thing to play.

Do you think part of that confidence comes from the fact that she has this group of guy friends around her all the time?
That absolutely is part of it. But I also think it's her confidence that drew all of these guys towards her. She is really their hub, and I think it's because she's confident and she's grounded that she's a bit of magnet for these guys who are a little bit lost. Then in turn, what she gets from them is confidence.

That's probably why a lot of people identify with these characters, too. They've sort of formed their own little family unit, even aside from the fact that Andy (Jim Gaffigan) is PJ's brother.
Absolutely. She has a strong family unit with these guys. She's a bit lost without them. It's really funny, too, because we've clicked so well on the show that when I'm doing a couple of days of scenes where the guys aren't at work, I definitely start to miss them. I'll say to [producer] Betsy [Thomas], 'I'm feeling off in this scene, and I don't know why,' and she's like, 'Oh, it's because the guys aren't here.' And I'm like, 'Oh, yeah, that's it.'

You have a lot of cool guest stars coming up this season, right? I was thrilled to see the return of Johnny Galecki's Trouty.
Oh, we were so excited about that! Johnny Galecki is so amazing and just hilarious. We also have Jeremy Sisto coming in this season, and Ryan Reynolds.

Those guys are great. Are they both love interests for PJ?
Jeremy ends up being a love interest. And then we have this one storyline where Brendan gets voted as one of Chicago's 50 sexiest bachelors, and he becomes a huge [jerk], like wearing his sunglasses indoors and things like that. And Ryan plays one of his new buddies.
