Were you happy, then, with the group of women who were left?
I wanted a total mix. The one thing I asked for was that they all have a personality. That they all have something to offer. You know, finding them physically attractive is a good start, but we've got to have more than that if we're actually going to try to find someone I can really like a lot.
And did you?
I think so. I found two, actually, but this show will end with one of the most bizarre endings in reality TV ever. And I can say that because every producer came up afterwards and was like, "We have never seen anything like that happen before." I mean, the ending is bizarre. I would just say that. It doesn't have the ending everyone thinks. It goes wickedly bad for me for a few minutes. This reality show has broken about five rules of reality television ... I'm telling you right now, there's tattoos involved. I mean, full-on, real body tattoos with names and inked in places they shouldn't be.
What's your version of 'The Bachelor' rose or Flavor Flav's clock necklace when you give the women a pass to the next round?
I say to them, "Will you stay and rock my world?" And give them a backstage VIP pass with their photo on it, which I took. Or I tell them "Your tour ends here" if they're not staying in the house.
I love it.
I will not disappoint the rock fans out there.
Have you already talked about doing a second season? Would you even want to?
If I was single at that time, and the show is a big hit and they want me to do it, I might consider it. But, if I am seeing somebody, I wouldn't be able to. What's the point? We might as well script the whole thing.
What made you decide to do the cover album?
You know, it was really simple. Last year in Atlanta, we were just about to close the deal on doing an original album, right? And me and Bobby, our bass player, got into a fist fight on stage, pretty much knockdown, drag out. I had to get stitches, and he had a black eye, and the next day, we were on the bus saying, "Dude, that was funny. You hit me in the leg with the bass." We laughed about it and went on with the tour, and we were best friends again. But we decided rather than have that experience again in the studio, let's step back and just have fun and pick up some cover songs and make this real simple, this particular record.
Is it still fun being on the road after more than two decades with the same people?
It definitely is! We have our hardcore fans who have been with us for 15-20 years, and now they come out and bring their kids with them. It's just a big fun rock party.
Haha, it almost sounds like a family rock show. Bet you never thought you'd be a part of that.
I'm pretty sure I didn't! But people who come to the shows know they're going to get a fun time. We come out and leave it all up there on the stage.
