History:
William J. Bell had a successful track record in daytime. Among his achievements was working with Irna Phillips on several soaps and helping Phillips create "Another World." Bell's background primed him perfectly for creating this long-running soap. Bell co-created "Y&R" with his wife, Lee Phillip Bell, but their original idea for the show centered on the younger generation. However, instead of "The Innocent Years" hitting the air, "The Young and the Restless" debuted to much acclaim.
