The Price Is Right Cast & Crew

Description

"Come on down!" "The Price is Right," hosted since its 1972 premiere by Bob Barker, features a wide variety of games and contests with the same basic challenge: guess the prices of some everyday (or not-quite-everyday) retail items. Four contestants, all of whom are seated in one of the wildest audiences in daytime game show history, are called down to the stage to play a preliminary pricing round. That winner joins Barker on stage for one of over 70 different pricing games. After three such games, the contestants spin a big wheel -- hoping to get as close to $1 as possible -- in the "Showcase Showdown" round. The two highest winners of that round advance to the final round, where prizes could be cars or roomfuls of furniture. All of the show's prizes are presented by a trio of models known as "Barker's Beauties." Bob Barker has won a total of 17 Emmys: 13 as Outstanding Host, seven as Executive Producer of "PIR" and one Lifetime Achievement Award. Aside from his "PIR" duties, Barker is an outspoken advocate for animal rights. The rotating band of "Barker's Beauties" have, over the years, included actresses Gena Lee Nolin ("Baywatch") and Nikki Ziering ("American Wedding"). "Beauty" Janice Pennington -- one of the original four "PIR" models, left the show in 2000.
