Description
The post-modern soap opera mines the intertwined lives of the Cohen-Cooper-Nichol families for drama and self-mocking humor, with a hot soundtrack adding to the proceedings. It all started when Ryan, a teenager from the wrong side of the Chino tracks, found himself in well-to-do Newport -- an enclave of Southern California's Orange County. Taken in by a lawyer and his family, Ryan found himself in the midst of snarky, wealthy high schoolers and their sun-drenched angst. Creator Josh Schwartz earned a Writers Guild of America Award nomination in 2004 for his pilot script. The series underwent several changes during the 2006-07 season -- its last -- as Schwartz added short-lived new characters and phased out some of the "older" ones (namely, Mischa Barton as Marissa).
