The Dick Van Dyke Show

Synopsis

Considered by many to be on of televisions classics, "The Dick Van Dyke Show" features Dick Van Dyke as Rob Petrie, a writer on the fictional "Alan Brady Show." He's happily married to former dancer Laura (played by Mary Tyler Moore), and they have a young son (Larry Matthews). The plots generally revolve around problems at work -- where Rob got into various comedic jams with fellow writers Buddy (Morey Amsterdam), Sally (Rose Marie) and producer Mel (Richard Deacon) or at home. Jerry Paris (who went on to a successful TV directing career) and Ann Morgan Guilbert costarred.

Actor/Director/Producer Carl Reiner created "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and was close to starring in it himself. Preferring to stay somewhat behind-the-scenes, he later directed, produced and wrote many episodes. He did appear occasionally, however, as Rob's infamous boss, Alan Brady. This show is also well-known for Laura Petrie's capri pants; it was virtually unheard-of for a woman to appear on early-'60s television in slacks!
