Description
A breakout hit in a time when those were few and far between, this series breaks the TV mold by casting actors - led, of course, by star Roseanne Barr/Arnold/no last name - who look like regular people. Beneath the show's barrage of caustic one-liners, the Conner family deals with everyday problems such as juggling work and family and making ends meet. Roseanne won an Emmy for lead actress in a comedy in 1993, and co-star Laurie Metcalf won twice for outstanding supporting actress.
