Description
The fictional Midwest town of Springfield provides the backdrop for this continuing rich tale. The Bauer, Spaulding, Lewis, Cooper and Santos families form the backbone of the community as Springfield's residents face life and love amid the greatest of challenges. "Guiding Light" got its start as a radio drama in 1937 when Irna Phillips used her own experiences with a pastor who helped her during difficult times as the basis for the show. Phillips referred to the pastor as "the guiding light" and centered the drama on a reverend in a fictional city near Chicago.
