Created by Sherwood Schwartz (of "The Brady Bunch" fame), "Gilligan's Island" became a huge hit, especially among children, mainly due to the slapstick escapades of Gilligan, played by Bob Denver. The show generated several successful specials (including the smash hit "Rescue From Gilligan's Island" ) and a cartoon series.
