Kristi Yamaguchi Wins: Backstage Report
Kristi, how does it feel to win?
Kristi: It's a huge honor. This is a great gift from the fans. We danced our hearts out for them -- and for the judges, too.
Kristi and Mark, where will you keep your trophies?
Kristi: I think my husband's Stanley Cup trophy can move a little to the side. They can share the shelf in our movie room. Mark: I'm going to put mine in a plexiglass case near my fireplace. I'll put my sneakers [from our freestyle dance] in there, too.
Kristi, what sport will you conquer next?
Kristi: [Laughs] These feet are going up for a while. Maybe swimming by the pool?
Kristi, why did you kiss Bruno during your performance?
Kristi: There was some intro music [before we started dancing] and Mark said, "Why don't you go give Bruno a kiss?" I said, "Am I allowed to do that?" So I gave it a shot. It was supposed to be a kiss on the cheek, but we went nose to nose instead!
Mark, what's next for you?
Mark: Derek [Hough] and I have a band called 'Almost Amy' and we're going on tour. We start in July and anyone who wants to check it out can see our schedule at MySpace.com/AlmostAmy.
Kristi, will you keep dancing?
Kristi: I hope so. My husband has gotten hooked on it. Even if I do it socially, I'd love to keep it as part of my life.
