"Dallas" was the saga of the Ewing family and their massive oil empire. Patriarch Jock (Jim Davis) had three sons. The eldest was J.R. (Larry Hagman), the relentless CEO of Ewing Oil. Less obviously malicious were Bobby (Patrick Duffy) and Gary. Over the decade-plus of backstabbing, in-breeding, lust and greed, dozens of characters and actors entered and exited the "Dallas" universe including the seemingly random likes of Donna Reed, George Kennedy, Ian McShane, Susan Lucci, Barbara Eden and Pricilla Presley. Originally created by David Jacobs ("Knots Landing") as a five-part miniseres, "Dallas" ran for 357 episodes. Until it was beaten by the finale of "M*A*S*H*," the "Who Shot J.R.?" episode of "Dallas" was the highest rated single episode of a television series.
