Exectutive-produced by playwright Jon Robin Baitz ("The Substance of Fire"), Greg Berlanti ("Everwood") and Ken Olin ("Alias"). Original executive producer Marti Noxon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") left the series before it debuted, citing conflict with the show's creator, playwright Baitz. Additionally, original costar Betty Buckley was replaced by Sally Field prior to the show's premiere. Field won an Emmy as outstanding lead actress in a drama series for her work in the first season.
