Overview: Agnes Nixon, having created and written several successful daytime dramas, was approached by Procter & Gamble to create a new soap. After writing a proposal and five scripts, P&G passed on it due to the fact that the daytime lineup was jam-packed. ABC expressed interest, and although Nixon was reluctant to turn over her material at first, "AMC" soon took off and has been a fixture on the network for more than three decades.
