History: "All in the Family" changed the face of American television. Its blunt humor addressing all forms of racism and prejudice awoke a nation lulled by the sticky sweet characters and storylines of series past. A number-one hit for 5 years, "All in the Family" was re-run in prime time by CBS during the summer of 1991 through early 1992. Loosely based on the British series called "Till Death Do Us Part," "All in the Family" spawned the successful series "Maude" (which then spun-off "Good Times") and "The Jeffersons."
