Watching Monica Seles dance was like watching a robot jerk around the dance floor. She was actually worse than Penn Jillette and Adam Carolla combined.
As a former amateur ice skater, there isn't much comparison between dancing and skating. Kristi is a figure skater, not an ice dancer. While she was probably physically stronger than most, skating flat on ice is alot different than 4 inch heels on a dance floor.

Yea, Kelly Monaco won first season. But it was that whole thing where they had the rematch between her and John O'Hurley and he won, but she was declared the official winner by the show.

She deserved it though, skating and dancing aren't the same. And good for her.

The fix was in. A professional ice skater competing against football players and actors. How could she lose: impossible.

What about Kelly the actress from the soap General Hospital...wasnt she the first female winner if memory serves me correct...

I'm glad to see Kristi Yamaguchi win it. I didn't watch the program and know nothing about dance, but she is one gorgeous woman with a nice personality.

Kristi was sure to win it seem to focus around a female to win and she was the better of the females to dance also she is a Figure Skater who dances on ice spin on ice how could she lose.

Not like it was a level playing field....a woman trained in dance and a top figure skater against Monica Seles? DOH. What a waste of viewer's time. Did anyone NOT think she would win? Then she says she never had to think about her feet placement before? Sorry, Kristi, you had no business in this competition. Your win gets a big asterisk. I won't watch the show again...I turned it off when they eliminated Seles and it was clear there was one winner picked out from the beginning. PHONEY. Put Kristi in there against other trained PRO skaters/dancers, and then it's interesting.

Are we there yet? I mean, is it finally over? Please tell me YES!!!

Kristi deserved to win, because even though she was technically superior all season, she also improved her presentation all season. Even though she had worked with music and choreography before, Kristi was learning a new skill just like everyone else. I also think Kristi was a great example for women in their late thirties who want to take up a new activity, because she shows that it doesn't matter what age you are when you learn something new. Hooray for Kristi!

Kristy was perfect and deserving to win because of that perfection. I do think she had an unfair advantage as she was used to learning choreography for her skating routines. I believe the athletes on the show do well because they have the mental toughness and will to succeed by being able to practice skills over and over again without giving up. Good for her!!!
