LOS ANGELES (AP) - Parvati Shallow was the last woman standing on "Survivor: Micronesia - Fans vs. Favorites."

The 25-year-old boxer and charity organizer from Los Angeles outwitted, outlasted and outplayed her competitors - both "favorite" former castaways and "fan" contestants - to claim the title of "Sole Survivor" and the CBS reality show's $1 million prize during Sunday's live finale. She previously came in sixth place on "Survivor: Cook Islands."

Shallow received five votes over three for runner-up Amanda Kimmel, the 23-year-old former beauty queen and aspiring fashion designer. She also bested 37-year-old nurse Cirie Fields and 32-year-old bartender Natalie Bolton. It marked the first time in the reality competition's 16-season history that four female contestants made it to the end of the game.

"I couldn't have done it without the girls that I was with," Shallow said during the finale.

At the beginning of the season, a tribe of former contestants competed against a tribe of new players. When the teams merged, Shallow helped form an alliance of female competitors from both sides. The alliance shocked several contestants with their eliminations, including Erik Reichenbach, who gave up immunity he won to Bolton and was subsequently voted out.

During the finale, Kimmel won both immunity challenges, choosing Shallow to accompany her at the final tribal council. That last deliberation featured two players vying for votes from an eight-person jury of cast-off competitors - unlike the three previous "Survivor" seasons, which featured three contestants angling for winning votes.

"The fact that it's a final two and not a final three was almost poetic," Fields said when she learned about the finale's twist. "I mean, we've been blindsiding people left and right, and essentially we got blindsided. We thought we had it made. I guess what goes around, comes around."

At the end of the finale, host Jeff Probst revealed the series will return to Africa for its 17th season and feature 18 contestants living among wildlife. "Survivor: Gabon - Earth's Last Eden" will premiere in the fall. The third "Survivor" season was filmed in Kenya.

I just have to get this off my chest...I don't know why I like this show because this season proved you have to be manupulative, mean, lying, backstabbing kind of person to win...does that make you worth a million dolllars...not really...I usually like the contestants that don;t win much better,,,and you could tell that Natalie and Parvoti were mean people in real life who so should of been voted off and Amanda, James and Ozzie should of been in the top three and Erik could of probably won it too if he wasn't Not stupid but a nice person...but in the end James got some cash which he deserved and Amanda and Ozzie got each other ...what could be a better gift than love...certainly worht more than a million dollars...to a horrible person.

Amanda worked hard and played a fair game.Parvaty was a sneaky, backstabbing, coniving, user. Cerie was a useless lazy manipulator. Natalie was a boney man-hating lying lesbo, who looks like the Cat in the Hat with fake cans and a bad attitude. Amanda should have won. But so should Ozzy and James have won, and would have in real life survival, game aside..

FOR SOME REASON MY POST HAVEN'T BEEN SHOWING UP. MY THOUGHT WAS THAT I WOULD HAVE VOTED FOR AMANDA. BUT IF I WERE IN THERE SHOES, MAKE A DEAL AND SPLIT THE MONEY IN HALF

I THINK BOTH OF THEM SO DESERVED IT. BOTH PLAYED THE GAME VERY WELL. ALTHOUGH I THINK PARV FLIRTED HER WAY THROUGH MOST OF IT. BUT DAMN, A GIRLS GOTTA DO WHAT SHE HAS TO. SO GOOD FOR HER.WOULD HAVE VOTED FOR AMANDA MYSELF. I MEAN DAMN, SHE HOOKED UP WITH OZZY. WOULD HAVE LOVED THAT OPPORTUNITY. HAVE A FEELING THAT IT WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN THAT HARD TO GET HIM. I SAW THE SEX TAPE THAT HE DID BEFORE THE OTHER SURVIVOR HE WAS ON. LOOKED GOOD!!! HE SHOULD HAVE WON. HE WAS THE HARDEST PLAYING PERSON ON THERE. BUT HE GOT OVER CONFIDENT AND A LITTLE COCKY. TYPICAL MAN, THINKING WITH HIS P_ _ _ R. GOT HIM IN TROUPLE.ACTUALLY, I THINK IF I WOULD HAVE MADE IT THAT FAR, I WOULD HAVE MADE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE OTHER PERSON TO SHARE THE MONEY.SPLIT IT HALF AND HALF. I COULD LIVE WITH 500.00 THOUSAND FOR AWHILE. OR HAVE A GOOD TIME TRYING ANYWAY.

me, too. I enjoy the show, so, yes I care.
I would have preferred Amanda, but Parv also deserved it, I guess.

Guess I do. Thought Amanda had it wrapped up, but after the vote and thinking about it, Parv played the more aggresive game.
Hats off Parv!
