Top 20 Most Outrageous <a href='http://television.aol.com/show/the-view/52297/main' target='_blank'><FONT COLOR='#2864B4'>'View'</font></a> Moments
Any day you tune in to 'The View' -- a <a href="http://television.aol.com/daytime-emmys" target="_blank">Daytime Emmy</a> nominee for Best Talk Show and Best Talk Show Host -- is a day you might see spectacular drama. Things have calmed down since <a href="http://television.aol.com/celebrity/rosie-odonnell/53416" target="_blank">Rosie O'Donnell</a> disengaged from battle and <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/star-jones/343487' target='_blank'>Star Jones</a> was cut loose, but we remember the co-host shouting matches, the drunken guests, the footballs to the nose... and they're all on our list of the most outrageous 'View' moments ever. -- By Kimberly Potts

20. She's Trapped in a Box
You know the joke about everyone hating mimes? Apparently <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/whoopi-goldberg/27431' target='_blank'>Whoopi</a> is the exception -- she was irate about a news report on the death of famous mime Marcel Marceau. Goldberg called Marceau a huge influence on her performances, and blasted two "disrespectful" ABC news anchors for their "poorly handled," irreverent story on his passing.

19. The Un-vitation
<a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/star-jones/343487' target='_blank'>Star Jones</a> wasn't the only one to feel the wrath of <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/barbara-walters/74502' target='_blank'>Walters</a>. Comedienne <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity//kathy-griffin/28802' target='_blank'>Kathy Griffin</a>, who'd been rumored as a potential new co-host, lost the slot when she poked fun at Babs in her stand-up routine, and was rudely rebuffed on air when she asked to come to one of Babs' parties, only to be <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4z7aufC_XM' target='_blank'>told</a> she'd never be invited to one of her soirees.

18. Playing Nice With Others
<a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/elisabeth-hasselbeck/402331' target='_blank'>Elisabeth</a> got her own verbal smackdown from <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/barbara-walters/74502' target='_blank'>Babs</a> during a 'View' hot topics discussion on the "morning after" pill. Hasselbeck got so excited that she kept talking over the other hosts, prompting Walters to launch into a <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mchPdvZeSz4&feature=related' target='_blank'>lecture</a> on tolerance of other people's 'View'points.

17. The Joy of O'Reilly
<a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/joy-behar/5012' target='_blank'>Joy Behar</a> can usually be counted on to try to defuse tensions sparked by her co-stars. But when Fox News talking head <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/bill-oreilly/346428' target='_blank'>Bill O'Reilly</a> guested on the show, all bets were off, and the two engaged in some <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPxOGKghd2Q&feature=related' target='_blank'>verbal sparring</a>. Said she: You're loud and old (we're paraphrasing). Said he: No, I'm just really virile. Sadly, not paraphrasing there.

16. Papa Don't Preach
After his notorious "rude little pig" <a href='http://www.tmz.com/2007/04/19/alec-baldwins-threatening-message-to-daughter/' target='_blank'>voicemail</a> to daughter Ireland became public, <a href='http://television.aol.com/show/30-rock/942767/main' target='_blank'>'30 Rock'</a> star <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/alec-baldwin/3515' target='_blank'>Alec Baldwin</a> went on 'The View' to apologize. But a <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mv38VMIK9OY' target='_blank'>rant</a> on self-hating tabloid media and an <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKr59QvCcSg&feature=related' target='_blank'>assertion</a> that other parents verbally abuse their children, too, made the almost 20-minute segment less about the apology than about Baldwin's justification for the incident. And he's usually so funny on TV.

15. Mama Said Knock You Out
Former co-host <a href="http://television.aol.com/celebrity/star-jones/343487" target="_blank">Star Jones</a> took a pigskin to the nose when retired NFL-er Jason Sehorn made a pass at her -- and not in a good way. She's got some protective padding (we're talking the football gear, so stop giggling) but did no one think she may need a helmet? Clearly, the 'View' crew never watched <a href="http://television.aol.com/show/the-brady-bunch/62253/main" target="_blank">'The Brady Bunch.'</a> See her <a href="http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8512585262769022963&q=star+jones+football&total=362&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=1" target="_blank">"Marcia moment"</a> for yourself.

14. When Life Hands You Limoncello ...
<a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/danny-devito/17602/main' target='_blank'>Danny DeVito</a>, fresh off a night of partying with pal <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/george-clooney/13722' target='_blank'>George Clooney</a> (and downing seven limoncellos), appeared on the show in Nov. 2006, where he ranted about President Bush and <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46wakJ8oggM' target='_blank'>made quips</a> about his sex life with wife Rhea Pearlman. Before you could say "viral video," DeVito was introducing his own namesake version of the tart liqueur -- for those times you want to embarrass yourself in front of millions.

13. The China Syndrome
In the wake of Limoncellogate, <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/rosie-odonnell/53416' target='_blank'>O'Donnell</a> adopted a bad Chinese accent, along with the words "ching chong, ching chong," while <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0HtTReGt08&feature=related' target='_blank'>mocking</a> how the story probably played out in China. Asian groups were understandably offended, leading to an apology, sorta, from O'Donnell, who said her comment "apparently was very offensive to a lot of Asian people."

12. No Longer a Fanilow?
<a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/elisabeth-hasselbeck/402331' target='_blank'>Hasselbeck's</a> opinions have made her unpopular with several guests on the show; one potential guest -- <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/barry-manilow/101028' target='_blank'>Barry Manilow</a> -- even refused to go on 'The View' because he so strongly disagreed with Elisabeth's politics. Still, at least she didn't have to endure an on-air snub from him, as she did from both <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFOLd0De2_g&feature=related' target='_blank'>Glenn Close</a> and <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-3C0qFOSdE&feature=related' target='_blank'>Alicia Silverstone</a>.

On <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/meredith-vieira/343172' target='_blank'>Meredith Vieira's</a> last show in June 2006, <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/joy-behar/5012' target='_blank'>Joy Behar</a> told Vieira she wanted to express how much she cared for her, so she decided to do what Vieira's replacement, <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/rosie-odonnell/53416' target='_blank'>O'Donnell</a>, would probably do: She went for a <a href='http://www.tmz.com/2006/06/09/merediths-brokeback-farewell/4' target='_blank'>girl-on-girl kiss</a>. Break out the "What would Rosie O'Donnell do?" bracelets. WWRODD ... that's catchy.

10. Flat Earth Society
When she joined the show, <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/sherri-shepherd/242498' target='_blank'>Sherri Shepherd</a> told her co-hosts she wasn't a political junkie and promised to get up to speed on current events for their daily hot topics discussions. But who could've guessed that Shepherd was so, um, geographically challenged? A debate on evolution led to the <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNC117UYsHs&feature=related' target='_blank'>declaration</a> that she didn't know if the world was flat or round.

9. Rosie Rips Ripa, Ripa Rips Rosie
When <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/rosie-odonnell/53416' target='_blank'>Rosie O'Donnell</a> accused <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/kelly-ripa/334174' target='_blank'>Kelly Ripa</a> of being homophobic after Ripa <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLnUo4DhQes&feature=related' target='_blank'> dissed</a> <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/clay-aiken/402058'target='_blank'>Clay Aiken</a> for covering her mouth with his hand, O'Donnell not only offended Ripa, but also implied something about Aiken's sexuality that he has never publicly confirmed. Ripa got her revenge, though,<a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q17gVhZcs5I&NR=1' target='_blank'> calling into 'The View'</a> and labeling O'Donnell's accusation "outrageous."

8. Babs Makes a Boob of Herself
On a May 2005 show, <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/barbara-walters/74502' target='_blank'>Barbara Walters</a> dissed a woman who, while on the same airplane as Babs, had publicly nursed her baby. The comment set off a wave of backlash and "lactivism" -- 200 women showed up outside ABC studios in New York and very publicly breastfed their infants (good thing Walters hadn't dissed the woman for changing a dirty diaper). <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/jimmy-kimmel/301957' target='_blank'>Jimmy Kimmel</a> <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WqiHlP5NAY&feature=related' target='_blank'>poked fun</a> at Babs, too.

7. The 'I Do' Adieu?
Before <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/star-jones/343487' target='_blank'>Star Jones'</a> ill-fated 2004 nuptials, she offended media watchers, her co-stars and good taste by soliciting wedding freebies that she then mentioned on air. The tacky habit reportedly led to her 'View' downfall, but not till after she'd wrangled free invites, tuxedos, bridesmaid dresses and other goodies. She now blames the failure of her marriage on "letting the media in" to her relationship. Gotta take the good with the bad, Star.

6. Whoopi's in the Doghouse
Controversy didn't leave the building with <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/rosie-odonnell/53416' target='_blank'>O'Donnell's</a> departure. On <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/whoopi-goldberg/27431' target='_blank'>Whoopi Goldberg's</a> first day as moderator, she made <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtqJuIQfmCU' target='_blank'>comments</a> that many pet lovers took to mean she was defending NFL-er Michael Vick for dogfighting. She clarified that she only meant to put his actions into context, and ended up offending Southerners in the process. Outraged 'View'ers, meet Whoopi.

5. Whoopi Hassles the Hasselbeck
A discussion on a proposed Hillary Clinton "baby bond" turned into a tense <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxuJ5LNBPUI' target='_blank'>discussion</a> of abortion between <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/elisabeth-hasselbeck/402331' target='_blank'>Elisabeth</a> and <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/whoopi-goldberg/27431' target='_blank'>Goldberg</a> during an Oct. 2007 Hot Topics segment, with Goldberg telling Hasselbeck to "back off" and show reverence for women who had found themselves in the position of considering an abortion.

4. Elisabeth Can Hassle Back
You have to hand it to <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/elisabeth-hasselbeck/402331' target='_blank'>Elisabeth</a> -- love her or hate her, she gives as good as she gets. Like during a heated discussion with <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/sandra-bernhard/81634' target='_blank'>Sandra Bernhard</a>, who'd quipped that Laura Bush was "heavily medicated." Elisabeth, clearly ticked off, <a href='http://www.tvsquad.com/2006/06/18/the-view-sandra-bernhard-sparks-catfight/' target='_blank'>told</a> Bernhard to stop calling her "honey"; the tension led <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/joy-behar/5012' target='_blank'>Joy Behar</a> to walk off the set temporarily ... and 'View' fans to turn up the volume.

<a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/star-jones/343487' target='_blank'>Star Jones</a> made a <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wB_YbBRWC2o&feature=related' target='_blank'>surprise announcement</a> on the June 27, 2006, episode: She was leaving. Also a surprise to <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/barbara-walters/74502' target='_blank'>Babs</a> and her co-stars: An interview Jones gave right before the show, in which she said she'd actually been fired. That kicked off a war of words that played out in the media, and the June 27 show was Jones' last.

There was no winner in the insult war between <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/rosie-odonnell/53416' target='_blank'>O'Donnell</a> and <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/donald-trump/71941' target='_blank'>Donald Trump</a>, especially not viewers, who were treated to an ongoing brouhaha that only served to show how many ways Rosie could <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64YhFQ99a-c' target='_blank'>mock</a> Trump's wealth and combover, and how many synonyms for the words "fat" and "loser" he could <a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1OZaAmn8vs&feature=related' target='_blank'>mine</a> from his thesaurus. These two should've gotten a room ... in which to beat each other up and get it over with.

1. A Bad Split
As if this meltdown of all meltdowns wasn't contentious enough, with <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/rosie-odonnell/53416' target='_blank'>O'Donnell</a> calling <a href='http://television.aol.com/celebrity/elisabeth-hasselbeck/402331' target='_blank'>Hasselbeck</a> a "coward" and Elisabeth replying that Rosie was responsible for defending herself, the final straw that allegedly galled O'Donnell so much that she decided she couldn't continue on the show was the director's decision to air the imbroglio on a <a href='http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20039945,00.html' target='_blank'>split screen</a>.
