Recent 'Idol' Outcast Stands by His Hair

(March 2) - One of the latest 'American Idol' castoffs, Robbie Carrico, has spent the days following his elimination having to defend his hairline rather than his lackluster performance.

Carrico Tackles '70s Night

Carrico, whose authenticity had been repeatedly called into question throughout the competition, failed to wow the judges last Tuesday with his take on Foreigner's 'Hot Blooded.' The following day, TMZ reported that the 26-year-old singer's hair wasn't all his. Sources told the Web site that he actually wore a wig, but that he never spoke about it, creating an awkward situation backstage on the show. 'Idol' producers did not comment.

PEOPLE also spoke to a source that said Carrico's hair "could be some sort of weave. His long hair is impossible. There’s no way he could grow that hair.”

After being voted off the show. Carrico went on the defense about his long locks. He told AOL Television "I've been growing this hair for a very long time. I think it's ridiculous that they have to come up with something like that."

Carrico also stood by his musical authenticity. "That's kind of a strong point for me," he says. "I've spent the past six years working my tail off in grungy bars. Pulling our own trailer with our equipment and living out of a van sometimes and doing all of the grunt work that they said they didn't see me doing, because of what I did before with pop music. That was a job to me. Like I said before, this is me and you get what you see."

Why does it matter what he does with his hair? People say nothing about women doing anything they want to their hair....I don't get what the fuss is all about!

Why doesn't he just prove to the world that his hair is real by pulling on it in front of some reporters and taking some video of it?

He would show people that he is genuine and not a liar.

Bad wig. Really bad wig. When good wigs go bad.

dglen 10:52:16 AM Mar 04 2008

he would have looked better with a sheved head or a neaater wig. As he was, he looked rediculous.

This dude is another wannabe,he doesn't have any class and he needs a new place to shop, that wig is cheap quality and color is bad. It's time for him to get a real job.

Yes, I think it's his own hair and no, he should not have been elimated last week.
The one that should go is Danny. This young man is another Sanjaya. He has
a small amount of talent and a huge ego problem.

WilliCrl 01:26:53 AM Mar 04 2008

from a hairdressers point of view it was a nasty excuse for a hairpiece. If he wanted to be a rocker he should be a rocker ,not a rocker wanna -be in pearl snap shirts and nasty hair.On top of the hair he couldn't carry a tune in a shower.America was right.

does it rlly matter @ all? he might've been telling the truth or he might have a wig. does it really matter? it doesnt. a lot of people couldnt care less if he did or not. i wish these articles were more about how they sung rather than if they wear a wig or not. WOW.

n3vcl 06:18:19 PM Mar 03 2008

It was just yukky. The looks are part of the package. Comb your hair!

jewellings 05:28:33 PM Mar 03 2008

Why should anyone care if it is his real hair or not. If he has a weave or a wig, it is his business. Some people always get tied into other people's business rather than taking a look at themself. They need to realize that they are not perfect, and keep their opinon to themself. What does that have to do with his singing performances?

fafarone 04:48:24 PM Mar 03 2008

Who gives a flying **** about his hair. The show isn't called American Hairline or American Folicle,
It's about how well somebody can "sing" and whether or not they have what it takes to win a singing contest to become someone that the american public wants to listen to on the radio and on cds.
