(May 2) - Rachael Ray's paying tribute to Rosie O'Donnell on her talk show? Sound like a nice gesture? Not if you work for Ellen DeGeneres.

MSNBC's Courtney Hazlett reports that a source says Telepictures Productions, the company behind 'Ellen,' asked 'The Rachael Ray Show' not to go on with a planned tribute to Rosie O'Donnell slated to run on May 2.

The reason? An O'Donnell appearance could help spike the Ray ratings, leading her to beat 'Ellen' in markets where the shows air opposite one another.

A rep of Rachael Ray's show confirmed to MSNBC that "we did receive a legal complaint from Telepictures about Rachael Ray’s tribute to Rosie. We think the complaints are invalid and without merit. We stand by the show. And, it will air as scheduled -- May 2."

A Telepictures spokesperson denied that there was a legal complaint, saying "We love Rosie and can’t wait to watch the show."
