Although her character was thought to have been beheaded early in Season 3, Callies will return as a series regular this fall, according to TVGuide.com.

Dr. Sara Tancredi, the love interest to Wentworth Miller's Michael, was killed off after a contract dispute led to the then-pregnant Callies being written off the show.

As for how it's possible that Dr. Sara is still alive, executive producer Max Olmstead had this to say: "Once we realized that the emotional hook of Season 3 was going to be the death of Sara, when we didn't get the actress to do it, as soon as we wrote it and shot it, we realized that there was actually a way she could still be alive. Lincoln glanced at the head in the box for a split second. That could've been anyone."

As a result, Season 4 will find Sara very much alive, though a little worse for the wear. The action will jump forward about a month, with flashbacks revealing what has transpired in the interim.

And, for fans itching to know whether Michael and Sara will finally consummate their love, Olmstead offers hope. "Yes! They are finally together," Olmstead tells E! Online. "There's no physical barriers anymore between them, but they're both pretty banged up when they see each other, and it's about how they get past that to really find that real intimacy."

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY I love this show. It can get pretty far fetched and ridiculous at times, but it is such fun to watch and see how the various plots unfold.
Can't wait.

Gave up watching after about 5 episodes into last season. At the start of season 2 through the end of season2, they started writing people out left and right. They had a great show but didnt want to pay any of the supporting cast. The show only got green lighted for a 4th season because minor ratings on FOX is considered a success. Quit watching people, its way past expiration.

Such a fanastic show. Many layers of drama every week. Relieved to find out one of the CORE characters makes a return. Yay!!!

One of the last remarks made in the season closer was that Sara was the weakest link in what the cop and Whistler and his crew were planning to do. Most people thought it wasnt Sara's nane that was mentioned, but replay the last 5 minutes or so and you'll see.
