LOS ANGELES (June 4) - AMC's "Mad Men" can't possibly be mad at the Television Critics Assn.

The rookie series about Madison Avenue executives during the 1960s tied HBO's urban drama "The Wire" with four nominations in this year's TCA Awards. The frontrunners earned nods for drama, program of the year and individual achievement ("Mad Men's" Jon Hamm and "Wire's" David Simon).

In addition, "Mad Men" is up for new program while "Wire" was mentioned for the organization's Heritage Award.

Although critics have been bashing HBO for losing its way, the pay cable channel led all networks with 10 nominations. In addition to "Wire," HBO collected three nods for its "John Adams" miniseries, two for "Flight of the Conchords" and one for the documentary "Alive Day Memories."

PBS came in second with nine nominations, including three for Ken Burns' "The War," a fall documentary series on World War II.

Among the broadcast networks, NBC and ABC scooped up most of the nominations. NBC scored seven, including three for "30 Rock" and two for "Friday Night Lights." ABC landed five, led by "Lost" with two. The CW network received a single nomination for "Reaper" and CBS earned one in the Heritage category for "M+A+S+H." Fox, the ratings leader last season, was shut out.

TV critics will cast final ballots through Monday and announce winners July 19 during the TCA Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
