Cyrus Caught in Underwear Pic Scandal

(Jan. 29) -- While not quite at the Vanessa Hudgens level of scandal, Miley "Hannah Montana" Cyrus has an Internet controversy brewing thanks to some skin-bearing pictures.

Photos of the 15-year-old TV and music starlet in her underwear and bikini have leaked to blogs, sparking yet another scandal for one of Hollywood's young leading ladies. See all the pictures on JustJared and TopSocialite.com.

"I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed," Cyrus says of pictures that appear in the new issue of Vanity Fair.

Vanity Fair editors say "Miley's parents and/or minders were on the set all day. Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley. In fact, when Bruce Handy interviewed Miley, he asked her about the photo and she was very cheerful about it and thought it was perfectly fine."

Just last week, photos of Cyrus flashing her bra and pulling up her shirt while draped across the lap of a male furthered the speculation that the singer-actress sensation may be more PG-13 or R than G-rated.

"The pictures of me on the Internet were silly, inappropriate shots." adds Cyrus about last week's photo scandal. The leaked pics didn't make a dent. Her 'Best of Both Worlds' CD was ranked near the top of the charts last week.

Photos of Cyrus in provocative poses first leaked near the end of January to gossip sites like TopSocialite.com.

In the photos, Cyrus is seen in two separate pictures lifting up her shirt while wearing underwear. In another, she's seen posing in a bikini with another unidentified female.

In 2007, "High School Musical" starlet Vanessa Hudgens was forced to deal with a scandal of her own when nude pictures that she had taken leaked to blogs. Hudgens, 18, has since discussed the pictures, telling Seventeen magazine that the photos were "something that was meant to be private, and even though it isn't anymore, I’d still like to keep it as private as I can."

Prior to the Hudgens uproar, last year's "American Idol" gained some extracurricular interest when racy photos of contestant Antonella Barba began circulating on the Internet. Barba, who was voted off weeks later, was reportedly offered a Playboy photo spread following the controversy, but declined.

As a mother of a young daughter...I think that this is a perfect example of innocence meets the "adult world". Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus's intended innocent display of beauty being misconstrued as provocative and "slutty" is the perfect example to our daughters that every action that you take as a young woman is important. Although it is unfair in comparison to their male counterparts females are held to a higher standard of "innocence" even in the "gender sensitive" world that we live in and women still pay and pay dearly for any little mis-step along the way in their young adulthood. This is a lesson to our daughters that you have some serious decisions to make in the coming years and these decisions can affect you for the rest of your life. Poor choices now can decide your whole future whether it be a mistaken photo or worse. We need to stop judging the Hollywood girls during their much publicized transition to womanhood by casting them away as trash and yesterday's innocence
