(April 14) -- Trading big players is generally reserved for sports, but is the practice about to jump into the news world?
The New York Daily News reports that discussions among TV insiders may lead to a possible trade, where CBS sends the struggling Katie Couric to CNN, while Anderson Cooper would exit to take Couric's 'CBS Evening News' anchor chair.
According to the report, Couric would possibly take over Larry King's show, as the 74-year-old interview specialist may be ready to hang up his suspenders. A CNN spokeswoman denied the report, stating that "Larry is the best there is; he will be here for a long time."
It would be a deal that could benefit both CNN and CBS. Since taking over in late 2006, Couric has struggled to draw viewers to the network's 'Evening News,' steadily being beaten by NBC and ABC's broadcasts. Cooper on the other hand has been a rising star at CNN, jumping from a reporter to a lead personality in recent years.
Last week, reports swirled that Couric would be out of CBS before her contract expired in 2011. Some even suggested that she would leave the network in the next few months, not after the presidential election and inauguration as previously reported.
