(April 14) -- Trading big players is generally reserved for sports, but is the practice about to jump into the news world?

The New York Daily News reports that discussions among TV insiders may lead to a possible trade, where CBS sends the struggling Katie Couric to CNN, while Anderson Cooper would exit to take Couric's 'CBS Evening News' anchor chair.

Facing media rumors about her possible departure from CBS News, Katie Couric set the record straight in July: "There were a lot of speculative pieces that have been spun out of control," she said. "We have no plans to part company anytime soon."

According to the report, Couric would possibly take over Larry King's show, as the 74-year-old interview specialist may be ready to hang up his suspenders. A CNN spokeswoman denied the report, stating that "Larry is the best there is; he will be here for a long time."

It would be a deal that could benefit both CNN and CBS. Since taking over in late 2006, Couric has struggled to draw viewers to the network's 'Evening News,' steadily being beaten by NBC and ABC's broadcasts. Cooper on the other hand has been a rising star at CNN, jumping from a reporter to a lead personality in recent years.

Last week, reports swirled that Couric would be out of CBS before her contract expired in 2011. Some even suggested that she would leave the network in the next few months, not after the presidential election and inauguration as previously reported.

It really doesn't matter who CBS puts in, they are not who I trust. All the basic news is so biased.

Both CBS and Couric should put their pride aside and move on to something better that'll work for them and their audience.

I've switched to getting the news (not made up news or what anchors like Ms. Couric think should be news) on the internet.

My God, what's happening to this world? Next we'll probably hear that "Rosie" will be doing her unbiased news addition. Bring back Walter!

Anderson Cooper is one of the new wave of talking heads. He is a brand name with no substance, and withjout a single original thought in his head. The glorification of these pseudo -pundits, all of which appear to have two last names, (what happened to John or Charlie? Is this a prerequiste to being a network "news person"?) is a sad step backwards. We need reporters; in depth reporters. I am afraid that Mr. Cooper's views on any matter are of insignificant interest to me. All I want are the facts of the matter, and I am perfectly capable of forming my own opinion.
The first network that comes up with such, (Charlie Gibson comes close) will be on to a winner.

Katie should go back to Today - it has been terrible without her. I hope she doesn't go to CNN - it is the garbage dump of network journalism. She is way too good to work with the poor execuses for journalists in that place....

Anderson Cooper would be great! I would definitely watch CBS if he takes over for Couric, who stinks on there! It isn't just her news..she looks odd because of too much plastic surgery. She found out she isn't as popular as she thought. The Today show lost no viewers...hardly anyone has missed her. No wonder she has been a ratings flop. Woodygroup, you are wrong about Cooper...his ratings do not stink, and every time I have ever watched him, he is fair, to the point, and well-spoken. He knows what he is doing and he does it well. I am not a liberal either.

i stopped watching CBS when couric took over as anchor....she is just not anchor material. Put her on ET or some other celebrity mindless channel.

No, it's like changing seats on the Titanic. You do know he's Gloria Vanderbilt's son, don't you? Doesn't he look like MONEY? Couric keeps that cheshire cat grin and her gums show....yikes. She went downhill on TV when they sent her over for the Olympics....The end!

I thought Larry King was dead already. OOPS, he always looks that way. Sorry !

Katie has a big head and she treats her fellow staffers like they are beneath her. She is being humbled right now and long overdue. I am sure she will bounce back doing something with television, but anchor person, she is not. Maybe a talk show like the one Meredith left, would work out for her. she should have stayed with the Today show until they booted her. she had it made there although no one could stand beng around the prima donna ficade!
