Kashepowell, you took the words right out of my mouth. Thank you for shedding light on a very shadowed subject. When I see a person, that is what I see...a person. Their color is of no concern to me. It is the way that person presents themselves, and I am talking about anyone. The N word IS like cursing in public, I do not accept the use of it, I do not use it, and I think it should be banned.

To finish my statement: presentation is everything. If you present nothing, speak about nothing, you will have nothing.
Kashepowell 09:38:07 AM Jul 23 2008
I am an intelligent woman married to an intelligent man and I have two intelligent children. My color does not come into play unless I bring it up, or someone realizes it and even the, I am so not paying attention to the stereotyping that their looks may hold. The use of the 'N' word is not ok in my house and with me. The fact that it is used by others in the African-American race to symbolize unity, brotherhood and/or sisterhood shows that they missed the whole meaning of the civil rights era. In private conversation, I have no control over what you say, but when it is used in public for others to hear and take offense, it is like cursing in public. You do it for your personal conversation, and I personally don't want to hear what you are talking about because I have my own life. One of the biggest marks that are missed is the opportunity to show young children of all races how to present yourself so that you don't have to complain that you have no job. Presentation is everythi

i think wed all be better off if this show never existed. These hens can talk all damn day but has anybody really learned anything? They all just want to say what they think is important not giving two ***** about the subject and not having any ground breaking conversation, just trying to add their two cents when no one knows shit. If they did they wouldnt be on tv chatting about it. The stupid blond girl is still stupid, ***** never gonna change. this is garbage.

You really can't have the Double Standard here. Eddie Murphy stated that its all right for a Black man to call a Black Women the B**** word, yet would fight a White man that called her that. If you REALLY want to live in the same world, then set Standards that SOMEONE can understand. Or is that not the case? you want your OWN world, so you can continue the Victim Role, which has suited the masses well for years. I can understand Elizabeths confusion in the matter. Woopie, although i really do admire her work, puts herself out there as the Angry Victim with no suggestions, or answers. Just keep on keepin on, cause you don't Understand.

We all live in different worlds. Although we may live in the same , under the same Constitution, and the during the same time frame, we do not live with the same sensibilities. Brown skins are viewed through a different prism than whites. Blacks are viewed differently by browns and whites. Most Native Americans have never even been allowed to see the table much less sit at it. We have all been guilty of some prejudice or judgement in our life whether it be the company we keep or the foods we abhore. (Of course I get that people aren't vegetables, but sometimes we dislike people and vegetables just because "pappy" did.) I don't care one way or another what Jesse Jackson or Pat Robertson think or say. They are both self proclaimed spokespeople for a particular point of view. I just like it when they get caught. Perhaps there is more to the old adage "Out of the mouth the heart speaks".

Well I represent the lower working class and some people just don't understand the pain when we hear the "N" word from a white individual as opposed to a black individual. If I heard a white person say the "N" word, all I would relate back to would be lynchings, field slaves, house slaves, cotton-picking, and bedwarmers. Whereas if I heard a black person say it, it would be okay with me. What we as African Americans have done is taken the word and made it into something that symbolizes brotherhood and/or sisterhood. The reason why white people are saying we shouldn't say that word is because they are the ones who made it a bad word in the first place. I say it loud and I say it proud!
