(June 30) -- Development of a long-rumored movie version of the Fox sitcom "Arrested Development" is no longer arrested.

Jeffrey Tambor, who played the patriarch of the endearingly dysfunctional Bluth family during the show's critically acclaimed three-season run, confirmed that the film is in the works while talking to EW.com at the premiere of "Hellboy 2" on Sunday.

"After months of speculation. I think we have finally figured out for sure that we are indeed doing an 'Arrested Development' movie," Tambor said. "I am very excited about that. I love that cast and crew and I felt like we had more to say."

The series, which ran from 2003 to 2006, also starred Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Portia de Rossi, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Alia Shawkat and David Cross as members of a wealthy Orange County family whose lifestyle is thrown into unendiingly hilarious upheaval when their real estate mogul father is imprisoned for fraud.

While no casting announcements have been made, it is likely that all of the principal stars will reprise their roles.

Beloved by critics but never a strong ratings performer, "Development" was canceled in 2006, just a year after it won the Emmy for best comedy.
