(June 12) -- First, the blog world bared their fangs at Katherine Heigl after she took a shot at the 'Grey's Anatomy' writers. Now, a show insider is letting his (anonymous) voice be known.

Responding to Heigl's quote saying she wasn't "given the material this season to warrant" an Emmy nomination this year, a 'Grey's Anatomy' insider tells EW.com that Heigl's words are "an ungrateful slap in the face to the very writers responsible for her Emmy win in the first place."

Did Katherine Heigl give the staff that made her a star "a giant, nicotine-stained middle finger"? Defamer sure thinks so.

Read Their Angry Rant

The anonymous source, who EW calls a "key show insider" says that the entire 'Grey's' staff "bent over backwards to accommodate her film schedule, and then she criticizes the show for lack of material?"

The scandal started when in an interview with the Los Angeles Times Gold Derby blog, Heigl said she was taking her name out of Emmy contention because she didn't feel her material this year was enough to give her an Emmy nod. Reading between the lines helper: She slammed the entire 'Anatomy' writing staff.

Heigl went on to say that she "did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials."

Heigl, who won an Emmy last year for her 'Anatomy' role to the surprise of many, was somewhat marginalized on this season of the hit ABC show, as the focus aimed more in the direction of other characters.

Bloggers, naturally, were quick to react to Heigl's quote. Defamer thinks she "has basically given the entire staff of Grey's a giant, nicotine-stained middle finger," referring to her notorious smoking habit. Perez Hilton asked his readers if Heigl was "Ingrate or Honorable?"

In the past, Heigl has found herself in similar scandals. After starring in the wildly successful 'Knocked Up,' she went on to bash the movie's principles as well as writer-director Judd Apatow, calling the movie "a little sexist."

Heigl's outspoken attitude also came into play during the Isaiah Washington and T.R. Knight scandal, in which Washington used racist slurs toward Knight. Heigl, who is close friends with Knight, spoke negatively of Washington in interviews before he was fired from 'Grey's,' while her other castmates kept quiet about the scandal. She famously said she "will throw down" for Knight, and said that Washington "needs to just not speak in public."

Grey's Anatomy has sucked ever since they got rid of Washington. He was one of the most interesting characters on the show. His relationship with Sandra Oh was compelling and funny and really held the show. Instead they replaced him with every woman falling in love with George, the gay/straight unattractive, unnappealing and boring guy. How ********? Instead of them pursuing the heat between Alex an Izzy, they have Izzy fall in love with dead guy, then George. How unbelievaby stupid. They need new writers, and new supervision. Getting rid of the best character and keeping the lamest one and having everyone fall in love with him is laughable.

You said it janroc67:She is a good acress. She isn't a great actress. The show does not depend on her as the elevated one. Proof: Washington is gone and the show is still standing. His acting ability is greater than hers. Still he is gone and the show seems to have survived...She is no Judy Garland...

Even journalists , writers, and reporters, seem to be making this complete blunder and acting mixed-up by calling what IW said, as racists remarks. For the nth time by the nth number of people, who have said this............GAYS are NOT a RACE .........and the F-word is NOT a RACIAL slur or racist remark as has been wrongly quoted in above article. No wonder people are mislead by media and the gays lunged for IW . He was NEVER being racist. Big difference in N- word and F-word. To compare them is ignorance. The N-word is racism, and NOT F-word. In fact F-word is NO proof whatsoever, even of homophobia either. That was another media sensationalism. Media should really not have to sell their souls to sell their stories. It is damaging.

The writers are the heart of any show. Take away the scripts and the actors make assinine statements like Heighl and Baldwin did.

Katherine is one of the most staggeringly gorgeous women ever to walk the planet. She should get the kind of scripts needed to feature her for the good of the entire show and everyone associated with it. Don't be idiotic; everyone wins when she wins. Get new writers if these refuse to cooperate. Writers in Hollywood are a dime a dozen (less than a penny each) because nearly all of them are lousy. She is one in fifty million. Do the math.

I happen to agree with all of the stuff she is being blasted for saying. Grey's Anatomy would have been better this season if she had played a more substantial role as in past seasons. It is true that she did not give an Emmy winning performance this year. She defefinitely has the ability to if given the opportunity. And who doesn't think that "Knocked Up" was a little sexist? What, just because she is in it she can't say so?

I was taught manners by my Parents and Grandparents (may they all RIP). NEVER BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU!!! IT WASN'T SO LONG AGO THAT SHE WAS AN ALIEN. I GUESS THE MEAN SPIRITED CHARACTER SHE PLAYED ON THA SHOW, WASN'T THAT BIG OF A STRETCH FOR HER IMAGINATION OR ACTING SKILLS!! I have always enjoyed ensemble cast shows, it is the whole cast that makes these types of shows. Honey, GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE SAND, GIRLS WITH YOUR LIIMITED ABILITIES ARE A DIME A DOZEN IN HOLLYWOOD, AND MORE ARE GETTING OFF THE BUS EVEN AS I TYPE....

hardly important. it's a tv show after all.

She's a good actress, but if she continues to down everyone she works with, no one will want to work with her.

l love Katherine! She is the only reason I watch Grey's. I find a lot of the other actors-male and female- to be whiny. Thank goodness for Ms. Heigl, who knows how to speak her mind....and at no point has she ever criticized the writers. She's addressing the "powers who be" at Grey's. They've tried to screw her out of money in contract talks and make her look bad. Unfortunately for them, she didn't keep her mouth shut and exposed their own game. Boy, did they get egg in their face when she went on to over $100 million in "Knocked Up", the success of "27 Brides", and her Emmy win. Katherine is a beautiful, smart, and very talented woman! Congratulations on your continued success!

I REALLY don't care one way or the other. Who REALLY knows the truth anyway?Sounds like she is tired of being used and abused and is taking control of her life. Great strategy to get out of her contract...
The episodes DID in fact deteriorate in quality and perhaps she does have some integrity. It takes guts to go against the 'top brass' and since I don't know ALL the facts, my opinion is just that...an opinion.
If she is that good of an actress, she will find the right people. Do I care? Not really.
