'Gilligan's Island'
Gilligan's Island: Though it was only on the air for three seasons, 'Gilligan's Island' became one of the most popular and well-remembered sitcoms in history by using a deceptively simple story: a small boat shipwrecks on an island, stranding the two crew members and five oddball passengers. Knowing the show would end if the castaways ever got off the island, the writers kept the laughs coming using dream sequences, visitors (who always managed to get off the island) and near escapes. But the show was cancelled after 98 episodes despite still drawing high ratings. You can own all three seasons, as well as subsequent TV movies, on DVD.
