Emmys 2009 Party Gossip

They won, they lost ... and then they partied. The 2009 Emmys were a roller-coaster ride of emotions, and the highs and lows didn't stop when the cameras were off. The winners, losers, presenters and hangers-on kept things interesting backstage and out on the town. Here's what we heard went down behind the scenes ... -- By Katy Kroll



ALL'S FAIR IN LOVE AND WAR
Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff looked like their recent breakup was water under the bridge onstage, but behind the scenes they were anything but civil, claims E! Online. The exes were at each other's throats backstage both before and after their performance because Maks thought Karina took too long to get ready. We're sure his anger had nothing to do with Karina dumping him.



RISQUE BUSINESS
Blake Lively slipped out of her eye-popping red dress and into ... an eye-popping black dress (complete with '80s-style shoulder pads) to go out partying. The 'Gossip Girl' star hit HBO's soiree looking ready to mingle in the updated ensemble, spies the Gossip Center. Seems like boyfriend Penn Badgley should have been keeping an eye on her, don'tcha think?



A GUY'S GUY
'Family Guy' creator Seth MacFarlane proved he's a real ladies' man during a pre-Emmys bash, where he hopped onstage with Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine. Afterwards, women were throwing themselves at him left and right, according to the NY Daily News. While he played it cool, he wound up sneaking off with five beauties at the end of the night. Wonder if ex Eliza Dushku is kicking herself right about now.



STRAIGHT TO HER HEAD
After unexpectedly picking up the award for Best Actress in a comedy, Kristin Chenoweth needed medical attention backstage. Paramedics tended to the 'Pushing Daisies' actress, who suffered a migraine, reports OK! Thankfully, it was nipped in the bud and the leading lady was able to go on with her night. We're sure she didn't want to miss the chance to make the party circuit and show off her new bauble.



ON THE MEND
While Kristin was able to salvage the night, Dean McDermott wasn't as lucky. He spent the day in the hospital with a stomach bug -- and wife Tori Spelling by his side, reveals Access Hollywood. After some TLC, he was released that night. Well, at least it's not like they missed out on picking up any awards or anything.



HOW THEY MET EACH OTHER
There are more rumored Hollywood hookups than we can keep track of these days. Let's add Chloe Sevigny and Jason Segel to the mix -- Contact Music claims the duo spent Emmys night making out at a party, only prying themselves apart when they realized people were staring. Considering Jason was recently seen carousing with Lindsay and Ali Lohan, we consider this a big step up ... even if it was just a one-night thing.



LAST TO KNOW
At the Entertainment Tonight/People after-party, 'True Blood' actor Ryan Kwantan admitted he was totally in the dark about co-stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer being in a relationship. He told People that he had to be clued in by the couple themselves because he never caught on, even after they had been dating for 10 months. Hm ... maybe it's not such a stretch for him to play Sookie's slow-witted bro on the show.
