Worst: Pucker Up!
Kate Walsh, Angela Kinsey and Christina Applegate are all laying it on thick in the lipstick department -- must be worried their red carpet kisses will leave them bare-lipped -- but Mary-Louise Parker's electric lips are so bright, we've gotta wear shades.

Best: Men in Black
Sometimes men want to show their darker side, but since William Shatner, Wayne Brady and 'Entourage' hothead Rhys Coiro rarely play bad, they're all blacking out with fashion instead. Bravo for taking a risk!

Worst: Flap-tastic
Is it us, or is the flapper trend so 2002? Eva Longoria, Rose Byrne and Kate Walsh all sport retro-glam looks; January Jones' hair accessories hearken the trend as well (although her "dress" is much more slip-like).

Best: Mellow Yellow
Bright and sunny, yellow is the color of choice for daring celebs like Mariska Hargitay, Teri Hatcher and Saffron Burrows. It's not an easy color to pull off, but all three of these ladies get a golden-colored star.

Worst: Fit to Be Tied
What's up with men going tie-less? Don't they know it's TV's biggest night? Tony Parker hits the red carpet sans neckwear (not to mention wearing an unseasonably light gray suit) and so does host and Emmy winner Jeff Probst. The shame!

Best: Hair Today
Gone are the days of hardened, hairsprayed hair -- Olivia Wilde, Jean Smart, Mariska Hargitay, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lisa Edelstein and Evangeline Lilly are just a few of the beauties working modern, softer updos.

Worst: Harsh Hair
OK, so maybe helmet hair isn't totally over ... Jennifer Love Hewitt, Christina Applegate, Kate Walsh, Christina Hendricks and Eva Longoria are all offenders that could use a good shaking up. Note to stylists: Learn when to say when.

Best: Take a Bow(tie)
We never get tired of a classic bowtie and, apparently, neither do TV's biggest stars. Neil Patrick Harris, David Boreanaz, Tim Gunn, Stephen Colbert, Ted Danson, Lee Pace, Mark Wahlberg, Patrick Dempsey, Sean Combs and most of the 'Mad Men' guys all tied on alternative neckwear.

Worst & Best: A Simple Plan
For Tina Fey, Lauren Conrad and Hayden Panettiere, simple black dresses let their hair, makeup and jewels shine. Sadly, the same can't be said for Kristin Chenoweth and Glenn Close, whose black ball gowns are a tad too overdone. Guess there's no hard and fast rule here.

Best: Bump It Up
There aren't as many pregnant stars on the red carpet this year, but Amy Poehler is absolutely glowing -- and practically ready to pop -- presenting the evening's first award. Can't wait to meet her sure-to-be hilarious baby. And as for Eva, we're not saying a word ...
