With 'American Idol' tweaking it's format for the new season, it only makes sense that the other competition show and ratings juggernaut, 'Dancing With the Stars' consider a change of pace.

Buddy TV has a wish list of six things they want for season 8. For the most part, the list seems reasonable including ditching the lift ban and axing Samantha Harris off the show. After the microphone gaffes with Marlee Matlin during season 6, it's easy to agree with the latter -- but there are a few more things to add to the list.

Bring on Guest Judges
It doesn't have to be as gimmicky as 'Idol' where the guests "mentor" the contestants/promote their latest project. You can just have a guest judge like Debbie Allen -- with both acting and dancing cred -- on the show to give tips and assess the performances. Sure 'DWTS' is mostly about coordination and dance skills, but showmanship is important too. Who better to give advice to competitors than actors who have danced or choreographed for the camera? Plus, it'll be nice to understand another judge's critiques besides Carrie Ann Inaba.

Mark Ballas is just the latest 'Dancing' pro to suffer the dreaded injury curse that seems to plague the show. At the Los Angeles stop on the 'Dancing with the Stars' tour, Ballas announced to the crowd that he sustained a groin injury and that it will take "a couple of weeks to heal."

Proving to be ever the professional, the show went on and Ballas even performed a hip-hop number with former partner and season 6 champ, Kristi Yamaguchi.

What would you get if you combined 'The Biggest Loser' and 'Dancing With The Stars'? It would probably be something like Marissa Jaret Winokur's new show 'Dance Your A** Off,' which will air on the Oxygen network.

Each week Winokur will teach the contestants a new dance routine and they will have the opportunity to dance with professional partners, who have yet to be announced.

In addition, Winokur will also guide them to healthy living and the benefits of exercise. Ultimately the contestants will be judged weekly on both their dance routine performances and their weight loss.

In a move that can only be described as baffling to 'Dancing' loyalists, co-host Samantha Harris has been recruited to 'The Insider' after being dropped from 'E! News.'

It was initially reported on Dec. 15 that her departure from 'E! News' was based on a mutual agreement. The role isn't new to Harris who -- beyond her hosting duties at 'DWTS' -- has been on several shows including 'Good Morning America' and 'Extra.'

'Dancing' alums Kelly Monaco and Mel B. are about to give a whole new meaning to the term "strut your stuff."

The former dancehall beauties will be taking to the Vegas stage to headline the aptly titled burlesque show 'Peepshow.'

Described as "a highly stylized, full-throttle production show that combines sexy striptease and celebrity with high-level production values and a dash of passion," the show will be directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell.

Heidi Klum wants to show the world she has more rhythm than just runway moves. According to Reality TV Magazine, the Emmy-nominated 'Project Runway' hostess admits, "I love dancing. It is so elegant and the gowns are so beautiful. I would love to do 'Dancing with the Stars."

The German-born supermodel adds, "I love sparkles! It's nice if you're at a restaurant and someone looks across at you and you're all sparkly. I think it's really beautiful." It's no doubt she'll love the costumes on 'Dancing' since the designer seems to have gone mad over sparkling dancers, bedazzling every inch of costume fabric possible.

Finishing third place wasn't the only bad luck Lance had with his 'Dancing with the Stars' experience. The show also apparently killed his love life.

The former boy-bander bemoaned to Us magazine that the show ruined his flourishing relationship with an unnamed boyfriend.

"Doing this show really destroyed a relationship that I had, which just sucked," Bass said.

After having amputee model Heather Mills and deaf actress Marlee Matlin strut their stuff, the people over at 'Dancing with the Stars' seem to be kicking the "wild card" factor up a notch this year.

The 'DWTS' rumor mill is buzzing that music legend Stevie Wonder, who is blind, will compete on the show.

It turns out the rumor is true -- sort of. Wonder confirmed to the press that he is in talks with the folks at ABC, "It'd be fun. It's not impossible, but right now it's just a thought," he said.

TMZ reports that 'Jackass' star Steve-O has given a verbal agreement to compete for the mirrorball trophy. The wild stuntman has even auditioned for the gig.

"I think it's going to be one of those 'Jackass' pranks," Maksim Chmerkovskiy told E! "Somebody probably dared him, and now he has to do it."
