'Dancing With the Stars' Season 9 Casting Rumors and Wish List

On your mark, get set, go!

The season 9 'Dancing With the Stars' casting rumors have been flooding the blogosphere. So, who might be hitting the dance floor in the upcoming season? From the very probable to the completely unfathomable, here's what's out there so far (and a few I wish were being considered). -- By Katy Kroll

Paula Abdul
Now that she's apparently not returning to 'American Idol,' Paula's looking for a new gig. But if she were to appear on 'Dancing,' it might be as a guest judge, not a contestant. May we suggest that she replace co-host Samantha Harris? [AOL TV]

Lou Ferrigno
The TV Hulk told Life & Style he had a "good meeting" with producers of the show and he's ready to "train hard" to be taken seriously. He has yet to sign on the dotted line though ... [Life & Style]

Sherri Shepherd
Her name was tossed around last season, and this year she mentioned on 'The View' that she has indeed been approached about joining the cast. Are rehearsals the secret to her recent weight loss? [Buddy TV]

Katie Holmes
This rumor seems completely ridiculous. While Mrs. Tom Cruise has done the singing and dancing thing on 'Eli Stone' and 'So You Think You Can Dance,' we don't see her being desperate enough to hoof it up week after week. If an A-lister like Katie did ever join, though, the other contestants shouldn't even bother showing up. [Perez Hilton]

Donny Osmond

Last season he let the cat out of the bag too early, claiming he was going to be following in sister Marie's footsteps by appearing on season 8. But he wound up recanting and sitting on the sidelines, hoping they'd tap him next time. Could his 'Dancing' dream finally be coming true? [Reality TV Magazine]

Adam Lambert
This one also seems utterly ridiculous. In fact, we're not even sure where or how it originated. But it doesn't even matter, because there's no way in hell the high-profile 'Idol' runner-up would even consider this. Check back with him in a few years though ... [Examiner]

Danny Gokey
This is way more plausible than Glambert, considering he expressed interest after being booted from 'Idol' and has yet to land a recording contract. Face it, Gokey, you better strike while the iron's hot. [ET Online]

Erin Andrews
With her profile soaring after being caught up in a peeping tom video scandal, the ESPN sportscaster could catapult her career to the next level by appearing on the show. But she'd surely be walking a fine line of hypocrite and one smart lady. [Chicago Sun-Times]

Aubrey O'Day
The former Danity Kane member is a perfect fit for the show. The D-lister is well-known to the MTV generation, and just enough of a trainwreck for older folks to be mesmerized. Think Lil' Kim with less street smarts and an even ditzier personality. [Examiner]

LaToya Jackson
This would not surprise us one bit. Since MJ's death, most of the remaining Jacksons have been scrambling to ride his coattails one last time -- and 'Dancing' loves harvesting the sympathy vote. [NY Daily News]

Vera Wang
If this is true, she'd surely be one of the most fashionable celebs to ever hit the dance floor. It seems highly likely according to reports, albeit a little odd for someone of her stature. [ET Online]

Kurt Angle
The Olympic gold medalist/pro wrestler's name keeps popping up in the rumor mill, and considering that three of the past eight winners have been Olympic athletes, he'd be in good company. [The Sun]

Andrew Firestone
The former 'Bachelor' would help the show reach its millionaire quota, and considering he's been making the rounds on celeb reality shows like 'Flavor of Love: Charm School' it doesn't seem to be much of a stretch. [Examiner]

Audrina Patridge
'The Hills' star desperately wants to stretch her 15 minutes of fame, but word is that the show's producers have put the kibosh on her 'Dancing' days. Of course, she still has her reality show spin-off to fall back on. [E! Online]

Keanu Reeves
Pro Karina Smirnoff has been pestering the actor to be her partner for years, but he has continually blown her off. It's highly unlikely her luck will change anytime soon. [Us Weekly]

Debi Mazar
An offer's apparently on the table for the feisty 'Entourage' actress, but there's no word yet on whether she's decided to kick up her heels. The rough-around-the-edges New Yorker would undoubtedly bring her biting wit -- and maybe even BFF Madonna to the table. [Reality TV Scoop]

Leslie Jordan
Fingers crossed for this to be true, because the 4'11" character actor seems like an adorable kook (a la Cloris Leachman or John Ratzenberger) that could bring some much needed comic relief. [Examiner]

Dean McDermott
Like Donny Osmond before him, Tori Spelling's hubby seems to be telling anyone that'll listen that he wants to be on the show. Could work ... [People]

Now it's time for me to add to the rumor mill by creating my own little Wish List of who I'd like to see strap on their dancing shoes. Wouldn't it be fun if these three were true?

Carrie Fisher
The gravelly voiced, tell-it-like-it-is screen vet has been my #1 dream dancer for years. Her no-nonsense style and dry wit would be like striking entertainment gold. Plus, the mere idea that she could walk out in Princess Leia hair buns or Paso Doble to the 'Star Wars' theme would leave fanboys (and girls, like me) swooning.

Spencer Pratt
Love him or hate him, 'The Hills' villain always -- always -- makes things more interesting. We wouldn't want him to turn the show into a total mockery, but we're confident he'd be able to walk the fine line and deliver the entertainment goods week after week. Hey, if Steve-O can tone it down, so can the devilish half of Speidi.

Jesse McCartney
I'm not gonna lie ... I need some eye candy on a show like this -- and it could give the 22-year-old singer-slash-actor a long overdue career boost.
