'Dancing' Backstage Report: Belinda Carlisle Eliminated

Although their judges' scores were far from the worst (they were fourth worst, to be exact), Go-Go's singer Belinda Carlisle and her partner Jonathan Roberts were the first to be eliminated from season 8 of 'Dancing With the Stars.'

So were they surprised? Was everyone else? And how are people reacting to the new dance-off rule on the show?

AOL TV got the exclusive scoop, straight from the stars and dancers, backstage at this week's performance and elimination shows. Keep clicking to get all the 'DWTS' dish.

DWTS' Report: Belinda Eliminated

After a bumpy start to the season and more people being added to the injury list every day, anyone could've been eliminated first on 'Dancing With the Stars,' but Belinda Carlisle danced her last dance and said goodbye.

With an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel to get to, Belinda barely said goodbye, but we did chat with her partner Jonathan and the rest of the stars and dancers backstage. Keep clicking to hear what they think about the results, their initial reactions to the new dance-off rule and to get all the latest 'DWTS' scoop. -- By Mike Maloney

Jonathan, you weren't on last season and this time, you're first to go. How do you feel?

Jonathan: It blows! I took last season off to compete in the World Championship, which I won.

    ABC

Did you think that Belinda's strong fan base from the Go-Go's would have kept her on?

Jonathan: I would have thought so. You can just never tell. I go back to Sabrina [Bryan, the Cheetah Girl] being eliminated in Season 5. You just never know.

    ABC

Will you and Belinda get together to practice your dance for the finale?

Jonathan: Yes, of course. We've got one more dance to do. She's coming back for a Go-Go's concert in April, so we're all going to go to that.

    ABC

What was it like watching your partner Chelsie dance to your wife Jewel's singing?

Ty: I thought it was unbelievable. She and Dmitry couldn't have done any better. Jewel sings that song so amazingly well. It was all really nice. I see it all through different eyes than I would have before now that I know what goes into dancing.

    ABC

Jewel, why did you choose 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' to sing on the show?

Jewel: I was selected to play Dorothy in a production of 'The Wizard of Oz' before I was famous. The cast had Roger Daltrey, Jackson Browne and Natalie Cole. When I stepped out on stage to sing that song, I started crying. I wanted to do something to show my range tonight. I think it takes years to get a song down and I've been singing this one for 10 years. (The song's on Jewel's new CD, 'Lullaby,' which comes out May 5.)

    ABC

How do you feel about Belinda leaving?

Denise: I'm bummed. You don't want anyone to go. I really like Belinda. She's a great woman. I'm a fan of hers, always have been. It's hard to be the first one to go.

    ABC

How did it feel when they announced as making it to next week?

Denise: Oh, my God! I was so excited!

    ABC

Maks, what do you think about the dance-off rule?

Maksim: I actually don't know what to think about it yet. It was fun watching Steve [Wozniak and Karina] dance again. I came up to him after they were called safe and said he really deserved to stay here because he really worked for it.

    ABC

Mark and Shawn, how did it feel to hear your name called as safe for next week?

Mark: I was really proud of Shawn. She deserves to go through. We're sad to lose Belinda and Jonathan. He's a good friend of mine.

Shawn: I was relieved. You take a deep breath, but it's sad when you know someone else is going home.
