BIOGRAPHY

Ken Mok emerged as a creative force in reality television programming during the 2000s via his production shingle, 10x10 Entertainment. A native of Larchmont, NY, Mok held court at several networks prior to branching out on his own; he started as a writer and producer at CNN, then jumped ship and took a post as a program supervisor at NBC, overseeing The Golden Girls, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and other series. In subsequent years, Mok moved to ABC and worked in development, helping to create hit programs including The Drew Carey Show and Spin City. Mok attained even greater prestige and leverage, however, as vice president of MTV Productions, where he supervised telemovies and original series. When Mok launched 10x10 after leaving MTV, he expanded the company into a number of areas, including film, television and alternative media, but placed his greatest emphasis, as indicated, on reality shows. His achievements included creating such smash-hit series as the flashy programs America's Next Top Model and Stylista, as well as Made in the USA. In 2008, Mok also branched out into features by producing the inspirational hockey drama Invincible, based on the life story of Vince Papale. - Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
