BIOGRAPHY

Born: 1/1/1905

As a Broadway chorus dancer in the 1920s, Bradford Ropes was exposed to many of the seamier aspects of show business. Ropes channelled these experiences into a brace of backstage novels, 42nd Street and Stage Mother, both of which were adapted (and extensively cleaned up) for the screen in 1933. He went on to contribute to many screenplays at studios ranging from MGM to Paramount to Republic. Most often, Bradford Ropes' screen credits were limited to the "additional dialogue" category. - Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
