Add your own commentWhat a gift - and I think that she was a true friend, and a truly good-hearted and warm-hearted loving person that embraced life and what an inspiration. The character she played in Maude helped me to develop a stronger sense of self and individuality. This was at a time in my life when perhaps most people had achieved it, but in my situation, there were so many old messages and social structures seemingly putting women down and in "their place." Perhaps this vision is wrong, because I was truly frustrated and held back. My more mature vision is that there were a lot of changes going on and some were fearful of the changes. Maude's character aided me in a positive way. Of course she was also great in her other roles. I wish that I could have realized the impact her character made on me sooner. Condolences to all her friends and family.

Thanks to cable TV, Bea will always be with us
I have the "Golden Girls" on as I write this and it is difficult to watch with the passing of Bea Arthur. I am deeply saddened at her loss and pray she did not suffer and was surrounded by the love she so deserves. Goodnight, Mrs. Zbornak....thank you for all the great belly laughs.
Bea you will be missed. I enjoyed watching you on the golden girls.My little necies enjoyed watching you and the other ladies.
My Heart goes out to Bea's family & Friends............ This is very sad, She was an awesome Lady and will be so missed:(

I loved Bea. She was one in a million. I watched the Golden Girls for years. When they first came out, and then reruns over, and over, and over again. She will be greatly missed in my book. I'm so surprised that I haven't commented on her death yet. It has been a few weeks. I guess I'm still in shock!!! I grew up with Maude also. What a great lady she was. Bea? I will miss you... May you rest in peace. Love you. To all her family and friends too. Your lady was a great person. I'm sure you know that. I'm a huge fan. So sorry for your loss. Love you Bea... God Bless you....
