I think that the outcome was not necessarily an underdog victory. Kris has talent and should be successful in a quiet way. Adam simply will be a success because he is so versatile and he has charisma. His stage presence alone reflects this. In the past the most successful Idol contestants have been the ones who did not win, with a couple of exceptions.
The bikini girl could have been left out, but Kara certainly blew her away in the singing department and Kara has infinitely more class.
Oh my God, did we really need more of Tatiana, talk about fingernails on a blackboard.
My final thoughts on the 2009 season are: the 4th judge brought the songwriter's sensibility to the judging; there were 3 real standouts, Adam, Danny, and Kris--each with their own unique personality and style; the judges should pick the songs each week, especially at the beginning, until the contestants realize what their strong points are. The final thought--I know when the auditions are happening, they go for entertainment to fill the hour, but really, please do a better job of weeding out the contestants and give us more eccentric, rather than pitiable.
What a worthless podcast! Please get people who will fill all this empty time with something PITHY.
I couldn't get through at all trying to vote for Adam and I'm reasonably sure that the more mature group of potential voters for Adam may have tried like myself and gave up. Though 4 hours were given to vote, I tried through out the 4 hours and never was able to get through to have my vote count. The teeny boppers who had nothing else better to do voted for Kris Allen, spending their 4 hours hitting the speed dial button. Those of us in the music and entertainment business who could tell that Adam is indeed the next Icon instead of just an Idol, weren't able to vote because we couldn't spend 4 hours hanging on the phone. Unfair! I say.
The 2009 American Idol Finale is over.
Adam: Keep rocking on! And get ready for more opportunities to come...
Kris: Enjoy and cherish what you have. And don't be afraid to keep in touch with Adam. He doesn't bite...lol
Danny: You're truly an inspiration. Very nice of you to speak so kindly of Adam.
Allison: You made it. Keep doing what you love!
People (including myself): Let's smile and be entertained by these talented artists. No more unkind words allowed! :D

i wish i had found this podcast at the beginning of the season. I have been a Kris fan since Man in the Mirror, and have been impressed every week since. he totally deserves the idol title. I am so disappointed that every wrapup show has dissed Kris instead of giving him his due. Alison on Idol tonite was one of the few who admitted Kris was there for his talent, not an anti Adam backlash. Your comments are appreciated. And if your not familiar with Keith Urban, I went to a Carrie Underwood/Urban concert to see Carrie and was blown away by Keith's showmanship, songs, and his unbelievable guitar playing - which he showed just a little on his duet. Check him out. And I always thought that if there was enough votes to keep Kris, Matt and Danny all in the competition, whoevere made it to the finals against Adam would have a good chance of winning. All different, but attracting the same type of viewers. I have always thought Kris had a special gift, though , with his voice, arrangements, piano and guitar. and he performed without the constant gushing approval of the judges that adam seemed to have.
Thanks.
